criticism against Michael Phelps' wife Nicole hits back at critics with a snap of herself pumping breast milk at gala

She welcomed her second son Beckett with her husband, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, on February 12.And on Tuesday, Nicole Phelps posted a photo of herself with the wireless Willow breast pump on beneath her gown.The 32-year-old shared the image with a note to her followers about how she had to pump during Michael's foundation gala earlier in the week - in a bid to help normalize breastfeeding. Nicole and Michael, who has 23 Olympic gold medals to his name, are parents to sons Boomer Robert, two, and Beckett Richard, three months.She revealed in the caption that she originally posted the picture to her stories - which expires after 24 hours - but she got so much criticism about it that she decided to post it again on Instagram with a caption about breastfeeding. Nicole wrote: 'After receiving so many comments, I felt it necessary to actually make a post of it.'The former Miss California USA said: 'Motherhood is one of the most incredible experiences and being able to breastfeed is a gift.' Nicole said that being at the gala 'was the longest stretch of time I was without Beckett since he was born.'Mrs. Phelps said that because her son needed milk often she had someone grab the milk and take it home for him.'I stepped away from our gala to take a moment and pump - hands free - thankful I could sit with my back to the room we were in and get it done,' the mother of two said. She noted that while 'some won't agree with where I did this and even worse if I was sitting there with Beckett nursing people might judge me. But breastfeeding is natural.' The dark haired beauty said she even breastfed her son Boomer in the stands while supporting Michael at the Olympics two years ago in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.Nicole concluded with: 'I want it to be known women don't have to hid in a bathroom to take a moment to provide our babies with food. We should be able to, without judgement nurse/pump (easier with a wireless pump) anywhere we're comfortable...bc we all know you're not going to "let down" if you're not relaxed!!'The model finished off her statement with ' #normalizebreastfeeding #milkmaker #breastfeeding #pumping.'  Nicole sported a sleeveless sequined black gown with a gold necklace for Michael's black tie event - the Golf. Gala.She wore a Willow pump beneath, which is a wireless wearable breast pump that has no external cords, tubes or dangling bottles.The $479.99 item has a milk bag tucked inside the pump; the user can check their milk progress with the Willow app. Nicole and Michael, 32, first met at the ESPY Awards in 2007 but started dating two years later; the duo broke up in 2012 before reuniting in 2014.The lovebirds got engaged the following year. They welcomed their first child Boomer on May 5, 2016; over one month later - on June 13 - they tied the knot. Their youngest son Beckett was born on February 12, 2018.
