This yoga for football players practice is a total body stretch tailored specifically with football players and the game in mind. this is also a really nice practice for athletes in general to help create and maintain overall flexibility, aid in opening the body and connecting deeper with the breath, ending in Savasana, a short but sweet body scan to help restore the body and soak in the practice. This yoga class is best done after a run, workout or football practice.
Feel free to grab any yoga props you have laying around such as blocks or books, a strap, belt or towel and some pillows. Listen to your body in each posture, if you feel anything more than a gentle stretch pull back a bit or simply take a posture you feel your best in. Patience is key.
My furry friend decided to join us so feel free to enjoy the comedy that comes with the practice :) See you on the mat.

Welcome to my Yoga For Athletes series! Helping people feel their best is one of my passions especially when I can help create a practice that balances out their lifestyle.
Like every-body, each sport’s needs are different. Although Stretching is great, Yoga is much more, offering correct alignment where you fully reap the benefits of each posture/stretch, finding focus and stability, working with breath moving through each posture allows us to open the body taking in more oxygen, increase energy levels and endurance all while naturally warming the muscles creating and increasing flexibility.
I will put a highlight on the practice of Ahimsa (non violence) in my athletes series to remind us to create a safe practice. It’s not about how low you can go, surpassing your limit or how far you can reach your toes, it’s about how you feel in this present moment.
